This calculator compares the running cost (fuel/electricity) and CO₂ emissions for the same distance driven in an EV vs a petrol car.
CO₂ figures: EV uses EU grid average estimate of 122 g CO₂/kWh. Petrol uses ~2.37 kg CO₂/L (tank-to-wheel). These are estimates — your grid mix may differ significantly.

Example
Example: 15,000 km/year, EV 18 kWh/100km, 0.18 €/kWh; petrol 7 L/100km, 1.65 €/L.
EV wall energy: 15,000 × 18 / 100 / 0.92 = 2935 kWh
EV cost: 2935 × 0.18 = €528 (example)
Petrol: 15,000 × 7 / 100 = 1050 L → cost: 1050 × 1.65 = €1,733 (example)
EV savings: €1,733 − €528 = €1,205/year
